Position Overview
HotSchedules is our flagship product in the US SMB segment — independent operators and small chains.
We’re hiring a product marketer to own it.
This is a foundational seat. You’ll build the positioning, the competitive plays, and the sales-facing content that a high-velocity motion runs on — and you’ll see the results in win rate within a quarter, not a year.
Primary Responsibilities
The buyer, not the feature list. Restaurant operators don’t buy scheduling software. They buy back their Sunday afternoon, they stop bleeding overtime, they stop losing their best shift leads. Your job is to understand that operator deeply enough that our messaging sounds like it came from someone who’s worked and lived in the shoes of an operator on a hectic Friday night.
Sales-facing assets for a fast motion. Our SMB sales cycle has a median under 30 days. That shapes everything: short demo videos in the one-to-two-minute range rather than the ten-to-fifteen we have today, objection handling reps can absorb between calls, competitive one-pagers that answer the question in the first line.
Making it land in live deals. Content that sits in a folder is worthless. You’ll be measured partly on whether reps actually use what you build — we listen to rep calls, and so will you.
Fueling the inbound engine. Our digital marketing team runs paid, search, and web across the business, and they’re accountable for inbound pipeline. For the SMB business, you’re the source of the message they take to market — the value proposition, the competitive angles, the proof points. They own the channel and the campaign; you own what it says. It’s one of the fastest feedback loops in the job: you’ll see within weeks whether a message converts.
Positioning against a crowded field. We're the established name in this category, and a well-funded set of challengers is coming at us from several directions at once — some head-on, some through adjacent products operators already use. You'll build distinct plays for each, not one battlecard with two columns, and you'll prove they work by moving win rate.
Key Skills and Competencies
3 to 6 years in product marketing, ideally in SMB or high-velocity B2B SaaS. You know that a 30-day cycle demands different assets than a 9-month one.
Genuine competitive chops. You’ve built plays that changed win rates, not just battlecards that got filed.
You write well and quickly. Most of this job is making complicated things simple for someone with four minutes between shifts.
Comfortable being close to sales. You’ll spend real time on calls and in rep conversations, and you’ll take feedback from people carrying a number.
Restaurant, hospitality, or multi-location retail experience is a strong plus. Curiosity about how restaurants actually run is required.
A Note on Scope:
We think product marketers should be buyer and domain experts first. That said, our operator-level buyers ask detailed product questions and expect real answers — this isn’t a role where you can float above the product. The job is to know the buyer narrative and the product cold!
